Lisa Messenger is one inspiring lady.
Here at MMC we believe in challenging the status quo. We believe in doing things differently so when a magazine for entrepreneurs launched in an era when other magazines were closing their doors we sat up and took note. And bought every single copy (except for issue one…still cannot believe we never got to read that one!!!)
The Collective magazine was packed full of pep, inspiring stories and tales of incredible businesses bucking market trends and practices. It was our favourite read and we miss it. But it is the women behind the brand that we learnt the most from. Lisa Messenger is the CEO of Collective Hub and has grown an international multimedia business on the basis of being an entrepreneur for entrepreneurs. The magazine may be closed in it’s old format, but the values and learnings from it live on. Lisa has written numerous books that have outlined her business story warts and all and each of them were written to inspire business owners and people dreaming of making their side hustle something a little more.
What can we learn from Lisa Messenger
Businesses don’t have to start on Monday. Don’t worry about lining all your ducks in a row. Start now, when you are full of uncertainty and passion. It’s a wild ride, just get on with it. Your attitude is equally as important as your ability.
Know your ‘why’. Customers buy from brands they trust and trust is about having common values.
Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.
Let the space between where you are and where you want to be inspire you, rather than terrify you.
Your culture is your brand. It’s your message to the world.
Don’t let anyone turn your sky into a ceiling.
Be unafraid to evolve, change, keep reinventing yourself. There is no need to live life according to others expectations. And you have permission to keep growing, changing and evolving every single day. Don’t let anyone hold you back or keep you small. You’ve got this.
