Instagram is the fastest growing social media platform with over 400 million active users and 80 million photos uploaded daily. Despite its evolution as a communication channel most people are still in the dark when it comes to knowing what performs best on the platform.

The success of an Instagram account can be measured by the number of followers, growth of followers and engagement rates. Our favourite measuring device is engagement. Having a community talk about your brand and share information about it is a lot more valuable than just tallying up the number of people who may have just seen your account once.
Showpo, Billabong, Quiksilver, and Cotton On have some of the most successful Instagram accounts in Australia, according Online Circle's first local analysis of the social media platform. The Online Circle Report examined 300 Australian brands by followers and by engagement from revealing lifestyle, fashion and food are the leading users.
However it is fitness stars and fashion bloggers that are the most influential, with Kayla Itsines leading the list of the top 20 accounts with almost four million followers, followed by Jessica Stein, with 1.9 million followers, and model Natasha Oakley with 1.4 million.
